Thursday, June 1, the Council of State has decided. The two-wheelers will finally have to submit to a technical control. This decision is the pride of some and the disappointment of others.

The end of procrastination and backtracking. The technical control will indeed become compulsory for motorized two-wheelers. The Board ofEThe state is giving the government two months to set the rules for this new regulation, in accordance with European requirements. This injunction is heard by the Minister Delegate for Transport. “The Council ofEtat gave a very clear interpretation. […] MOT must apply. We are in a state of law. Things have been prepared. Things will apply”says Clément Beaune.

A useless measure?

The Board ofEtat was seized by three environmental associations, tired of seeing the government hesitate for two years on the measures to be taken. Today, they say they are satisfied, but also lucid. “The government has not taken up this fight for public health and for ecology”, believes Tony Renucci, director of the Respire association. On the biker side, the opposition remains strong. Some denounce a measure that they describe as useless. For the time being, it is impossible to say how often the two-wheelers will be checked. The government has two months to decide.
