After the death of an FC Nantes supporter, stabbed before the match against OGC Nice, a VTC driver was indicted for “voluntary homicide” and was imprisoned. A second was indicted for “intentional violence” and “tampering with evidence”.
The events took place in front of a bar-restaurant, near the Stade de la Beaujoire. Saturday evening, around 8 p.m., at least six VTCs carrying Nice supporters passed through the street and were surrounded by Nantes ultras from the Loire Brigade. According to the VTC spokesperson, “the pack that arrived was a swarm of bees, hooded, yellow and green. And there, it was a kill, it was a trap.” An investigation was opened for aggravated violence on the part of the ultras.
Two stab wounds on the supporter
But during this altercation, a Nantes supporter was fatally injured. A video of the scene shows a VTC driver, knife in hand, struggling with this supporter. “He pushes away an individual who falls to the ground. That’s when he first stabs him in the back. The Nantes supporter then gets up, tries to flee, and is then hit with a second blow of knife”, explained Renaud Goudeul, public prosecutor of Nantes. Two drivers were indicted.
