Two teenage girls fall from the roof of a factory, one dies, the other is seriously injured

A 15-year-old girl was in cardiorespiratory arrest when first aid arrived, the other, aged 17, was seriously injured. She was transported to the North University Hospital of Saint-Etienne. The Loire firefighters were called around half past noon this Saturday, April 27 for a tragic intervention.

According to initial information, the young girls were on the roof of an abandoned factory. located rue Charles-de-Gaulle, straddling the communes of Unieux and Fraisses. The ongoing investigation will have to determine the causes of their fall.

According to firefighters, two other teenage girls, who were part of the group, were also present at the scene. Shocked, they were taken care of. A medico-psychological unit has been set up to ensure “support for the families of the victims” according to firefighters.

“The two victims are part of a group of four young people who broke into this industrial wasteland straddling my town and the neighboring town of Fraisses”Christophe Faverjon, the PCF mayor of Unieux, told AFP.

The site was closed in 2010. This former steel factory located on 6.5 hectares is now owned by the community. It occasionally attracts squatters, graffiti artists, urbex practitioners, those exploring urban wastelands or people who use it as illegal dumping.
