Two teachers were threatened with the same fate as Samuel Paty, one in Essonne, the other in Alsace. The death threats made were taken very seriously by the police. In the Haut-Rhin, a man was indicted.

When the students arrived at the Georges-Brassens high school in Évry-Courcouronnes (Essonne), on the morning of Friday, October 14, a police car was parked near the entrance gates. The police came to protect a history and geography professor, who was threatened with death earlier this week. “Knowing that this is happening in the place where you study is striking”, says a student. An anonymous letter reached the secretariat on Monday, naming the teacher. “We are going to make him a Samuel Paty to him and his father, the old Zionist rabbi”, can we read there. An investigation has been opened.

In Thann (Haut-Rhin), tense exchanges took place between a high school student and her teacher. She reportedly mentioned the Charlie Hebdo attacks, “could be considered as an apology for terrorism” depending on the establishment. His uncle was indicted after coming to high school to make threats. The girl’s father contests any fundamentalism. “It hurts me a lot to hear about religious fundamentalism”, he laments. The unions are concerned about the proliferation of this type of threat.
