Two men have been arrested and are expected to be charged on Monday, July 22, as part of the investigation into the arson attack in Nice in which seven members of a family lost their lives.
The courts are now holding two men suspected of being involved in the fatal fire in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), which occurred on the night of July 17 to 18. One of them, a 21-year-old man, was arrested in Seine-Saint-Denis on Sunday July 21. He admitted to being involved before remaining silent in front of investigators. The other man, a 25-year-old man known to the courts, turned himself in. He claims to have been forced to drive individuals around, without knowing their criminal plans.
Investigators are now certain that this arson attack was a settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking. The victims, seven members of the same family, have no connection with this trafficking. Surveillance cameras show a commando going to the Moulins district in a black Clio, which parked near the targeted building. Three of the suspects in the car are still actively being sought: a 23-year-old man from the Alpes-Maritimes, another aged 18 from Val-d’Oise and a 17-year-old minor from Seine-Saint-Denis.
