The municipality of Sarralbe (Moselle) has installed a webcam to follow the life of a pair of storks in real time.
Between Maurice and Mélodie, it’s a story that has lasted for 10 years. This stork duo returns to settle on the roof of the Sarralbe town hall in the Moselle department. This village of 4,400 inhabitants has many birds. “The years are never the same, we always have things to talk about. We’re on season number eight”, assures an admirer of the couple. Mélodie and Maurice have become the star couple of this commune in Moselle.
Many emails
Eight years ago, the town hall installed a webcam that overlooks their nest. The videos went viral. This small town is today bombarded with emails from Internet users who assiduously follow the lives of these two birds. The images from the webcam are broadcast live on Sarralbe’s “Télé cigognes”, a Facebook account and which are causing a sensation on social networks.
