Two men were sentenced to four and six months in prison after being arrested in the act of transporting three Algerians in an irregular situation to the Franco-Spanish border last Wednesday in Melles, south of Haute-Garonne, reports Thursday 13 January France Bleu Occitanie.

According to investigators, these men passed several times on other border points in the Pyrenees. They took care of migrants directly in southern Spain for 200 to 500 euros per person and then took them to Toulouse-Matabiau station. The three migrants were returned to the Spanish authorities, said the prefecture.

According to the prefecture, nine Algerian smugglers were arrested and sentenced during the last four months of the year 2021, before these two smugglers. “Many other control operations are already scheduled”, she says.
