Four French clubs were closely following the draw for the Europa League play-offs on Monday December 18: Stade Rennais, Toulouse FC, Olympique de Marseille and RC Lens. The first three named, present in hat 1, know their opponents and not the least. Second in its group, the Breton club inherits AC Milan, seven-time winner of the Champions League, who finished in third place in their group in the Champions League, behind Paris Saint-Germain in particular.
After beating Liverpool in the group stage, Toulouse will go to Benfica and OM will face Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk. For its part, transferred to the Europa League after its third place acquired in C1, Lens will challenge Fribourg, currently sixth in the Bundesliga.
