Two PSG players positive for COVID-19

(Paris) The Paris SG announced on Wednesday two positive cases of COVID-19 in its workforce, namely Thilo Kehrer and Éric Junior Dina-Ebimbe, while Leandro Paredes was placed in isolation “as a precaution”, a few hours of the Ligue 1 match in Lorient.

The German international defender and the young 21-year-old French midfielder “are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” their club said.

The two players were on the field Sunday in the Coupe de France against Entente Feignies-Aulnoye (3-0) in Valenciennes, just like Paredes.

The Argentine international center was placed in solitary confinement on Tuesday “as a precaution”, explained the PSG.

These contaminations do not threaten the holding of the match of the 19e Ligue 1 day in Lorient in the evening (9 p.m.) since, according to the latest medical protocol of the Professional Football League (LFP), a team is authorized to play as long as it has at least 20 players, including one Guardian.

Paris Saint-Germain communicated at the same time a list of 22 players who made the trip, in which appear Lionel Messi, Marquinhos or Sergio Ramos.

For the long-injured Spanish defender, this is the first time since his arrival at the club in July that he has made two appearances in the group consecutively.

The very strong contagiousness of the new Omicron variant, which caused an explosion of contaminations, has not spared the football world.

In Ligue 1, a source of contagion was spotted this week among the Girondins de Bordeaux, involving fifteen individuals, including nine players.

In England, six of the ten Premier League matches scheduled for last weekend have been postponed for health reasons.
