Two people, suspected of being the parents of the newborn found living in a bin on Friday October 20 in Rennes in Ille-et-Vilaine, were arrested and placed in police custody for assassination attempt on Thursday, October 26, learned Franceinfo with the city’s public prosecutor, confirming information from West France.
This newborn, male, was found alive in a plastic bag at the bottom of a large buried trash can, in front of an HLM condominium in the Bréquigny district of the city. He was rushed to the pediatric department of Rennes University Hospital.
It was residents who raised the alarm. Two residents heard him crying at the bottom of the trash can and called for help. The firefighters had to descend using a rope into the buried container, four meters deep, to retrieve the baby.
