two people indicted after the death of a sexagenarian on the way to Mas Riu

What really happened this Wednesday, August 3 in the early morning on the way to Mas Riu? Two people were arrested and charged this week. They are suspected of deliberately hitting the victim. The investigation, which had initially favored manslaughter, is now moving towards the criminal trail.

The privileged criminal track

As a reminder, that morning, the body of a 60-year-old man was discovered in Torreilles, along the path to Mas Riu. A call for witnesses was then launched to find the driver of the vehicle suspected of having fatally struck the sexagenarian.

The analysis of nearby video surveillance cameras allowed investigators to identify a vehicle likely to be involved. In the images, we see a white Peugeot 205 pass for the first time at high speed in the sector and return with the headlights off. The investigators quickly manage to find the car, which shows traces relating to an impact. A 32-year-old man was then arrested.

At the same time, the gendarmes are looking for a second person seen on the passenger side. She will be arrested 24 hours later. This is a 27 year old female.

The victim robbed and rammed voluntarily

According to the prosecution, this woman, already known by the justice services for acts of aggravated violence, prostitution and drug addiction, tells in police custody what happened. She found the victim in the early morning on the way to Mas Riu, driven there by the man under investigation. At that time, for a reason that remains to be determined, a first altercation broke out between the sexagenarian and this woman. The man under investigation intervenes and attacks the victim violently. Still according to the prosecution, the couple left before hitting the 60-year-old man with their car, then ran over him. Money and the telephone of the sexagenarian were also stolen.

The man suspected of being the driver of the vehicle has been indicted for “theft followed, preceded or accompanied by violence resulting in death” and remanded in custody. The investigating judge indicted the woman for “no assistance to the person in danger”. She was placed under judicial supervision.
