A French hat-trick but above all a double from Isère in triathlon at the European Championships in Munich this Saturday afternoon. Léo Bergère, originally from Pont-de-Beauvoisin, takes first place. In second position, another Frenchman, Pierre le Corre. And then another Isérois, the Échirollois Dorian Coninx, reigning European champion, who took the bronze medal.
“It’s an effort that the three of us made together, from swimming”, reacts Léo Bergère at the microphone of France Télévisions after his victory. “It was what we had planned this morning, we said to ourselves that we had to use our collective strength”. Léo Bergère did part of the race in the lead but Dorian Coninx had to hang on to clinch the bronze: “I took the hit a little halfway through the race, I started to think a little but when I saw that they were 1 and 2, I said to myself ‘we mustn’t miss this’ , I really gave it my all and it gives me great pleasure to share the podium with Pierre and Léo”.
