In Lens, two people died in a fire that broke out early in the morning of Sunday July 16. The criminal trail has not yet been ruled out.
A still smoking charred roof, part of which has collapsed. At 4:30 a.m. on the night of Sunday July 16, huge flames escaped from a building in downtown Lens (Pas-de-Calais). Inside are twelve logsocial events. “It was impressive to see. I looked out the window, it went a little bit from the hallway. By the time I got out, it was already upstairs”says a witness.
Two dead
The fire killed two people, victims not yet identified. Firefighters managed to save two residents. Five other people, slightly injured, were taken to hospital. Adjoining houses are not affected. “The roof collapsed on part of the building, making investigcomplicated situations”, explains Captain Cédric Sauvage. A burnt tire was discovered in the building, so the criminal trail is not excluded.
