Two people, a man and a woman, died after being hit by a metro train in Paris, announced Thursday, April 27, the firefighters and the RATP. According to the transport authority, the tragedy occurred around 12:45 a.m. Thursday at the Gaîté metro station in the 14th arrondissement, where line 13 passes. “A police investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy”added the RATP.
“Two people voluntarily descended on the tracks before being hit by the train returning to the station. A police investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy”, said the RATP to AFP. However, the company did not provide further details on the circumstances of the accident.
Four “shocked witnesses” of the accident were taken care of by the emergency services, according to the firefighters. “The driver, shocked, was taken care of by his management and the firefighters. His alcohol and narcotics tests were negative”said the RATP, adding that a victim support unit has been “immediately triggered”.
