A dismantled battery theft network? Two people were arrested, announced the national gendarmerie, Thursday, March 23. They are suspected of having stolen more than 300 batteries belonging to the SNCF or to telephone operators in the Drôme. The damage is estimated at more than 100,000 euros. A preliminary investigation had been opened with the parquet floor of the Judicial Court of Valence and entrusted to the gendarmes of the Crest research brigade.

These batteries ensure the power supply for the means of communication with the TGVs and the telephone network in the event of a power cut. All identical, they weigh about 40 kg and have a power of 12 volts. During the hearings of two people arrested, it appears that the stolen batteries were sold to a metal recovery company in the region.
