Two Palestinians were killed in an operation by Israeli forces in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army announced on Tuesday (August 9th). A senior official of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah movement, and another fighter were killed in the raid, she said. She claimed that her soldiers had “surrounded the house of the wanted man” in Nablus and that“there was an exchange of fire”. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, at least 30 Palestinians were injured in the operation.

Clashes broke out in other parts of Nablus, where Palestinians threw stones at Israeli soldiers. “Dozens of rioters threw stones and explosives at the soldiers who responded with the means of dispersal and by shooting. Several people were injuredthe Israeli army added. Our forces then left the city and no casualties are to be deplored in our ranks.”

The army raid comes two days after a truce was signed between Israel and the Palestinian armed Islamic Jihad movement. This agreement allowed the end of an Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip, where 46 Palestinians were killed, according to a Palestinian report.
