The 18-year-old high school student placed in police custody Monday after the stabbing of his English teacher in Chemillé-en-Anjou (Maine-et-Loire) targeted two other students at the establishment, announced Tuesday May 28 the Angers public prosecutor’s office.

“The investigation revealed that two other students had been targeted by the suspect and that the latter had prepared his act for several days”, indicates in a press release the public prosecutor of Angers, Eric Bouillard. The young man’s police custody was extended on Tuesday and “the classification likely to be retained could in the current state be that of assassination attempts and introduction of a weapon into a school establishment”he specifies.

Unknown to the police, the high school student was arrested “very quickly” after the events and taken into custody, authorities said. “The victim suffered a non-life-threatening facial injury,” according to the Nantes rectorate (Loire-Atlantique), which awarded functional protection to the teacher on Monday evening.
