Two of three stabbing victims in Vaudreuil-Dorion are dead

Three women were brutally stabbed and two of them died, following the violent attack that occurred Thursday noon in a condo building in Vaudreuil-Dorion, in Montérégie.

The suspect, who was also injured during the events, was covered in blood when he was arrested at the scene by Sûreté du Québec police officers.

According to our information, the 44-year-old man has several criminal histories and suffers from mental health problems.

The tragic event occurred around 11:50 a.m., on the sixth floor of a huge condominium building located on rue Émile-Bouchard, in a residential area in western Montérégie.

At the scene, emergency services found three women seriously injured by stab wounds. Unfortunately, the deaths of two of them were confirmed late this afternoon by the authorities.

The third victim, aged 70, was in serious condition in a Montreal hospital, but by the evening, doctors no longer feared for his life.

According to our information, the alleged murderer first attacked a member of his family, before attacking his neighbors.

The injuries suffered by the suspect are said to be relatively minor, according to our information.

He was met by investigators to give his version of the facts. The suspect will appear Friday at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse.

Friday evening, the Sûreté du Québec was still waiting for the DPCP to find out what charges would be laid.

At the end of the afternoon, a security perimeter had been erected around the building where the crime occurred and investigators from the Sûreté du Québec were to go there to begin their investigative work.

The Minister of Public Security, François Bonnardel, expressed his concern for the victims and their families on the X platform.

“Disturbing situation in Vaudreuil. My thoughts go first to the victims, their families and also to nearby citizens. The police are already on the ground and are carrying out their investigation to shed light on this matter,” he wrote.
