Monday, June 5, the trial of the attackers of Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, the grand-nephew of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, delivered its verdict. Two of the defendants were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 12 to 15 months.

Two people were sentenced, Monday, June 5, by the criminal court of Amiens (Somme), respectively to 12 and 15 months in prison, and a third was released, in the case of the aggression of the grand-nephew by Brigitte Macron. The three men were tried for violence in assembly. The defense believes that there was no exceptional judgment. “We still consider that the sentence pronounced by the court is in accordance with its usual case law”comments Caroline Jean, lawyer for one of the defendants.

The violence of the beatings disputed

The magistrates had to rule on the violence committed on May 15, in front of Jean-Baptiste Trogneux’s chocolate factory, on the sidelines of an unauthorized demonstration against the pension reform, after a speech by the President of the Republic. It was a neighbor who intervened to put an end to the violence. Jean-Baptiste Trogneux received four days of total incapacity for work. One of the defendants, Yohan L., disputed the violence of the beatings during the hearing.
