A few days after the departure of the former female co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire (QS), Émilise Lessard-Therrien, the director of communications and the deputy director general of the party’s office followed suit on Friday.
“After 12 years of having served the party as an activist, including seven as an employee, it is time for me to give up my place to a person who has the energy necessary to get the party through this period of turbulence. This is no longer my case. », wrote on Facebook Gabrielle Brais Harvey, who was until now director of communications.
Keena Grégoire, who held the position of deputy director general of the office, has also resigned, QS confirmed. “Ms. Brais-Harvey and Mr. Grégoire have contributed with heart and energy to our party for many years, whether as activists or employees. They were dedicated to rooting ideas and the solidarity project across Quebec and helped us bring our organization to where it is today,” wrote Myriam Fortin, general director of the office.
Five months after her election at a convention in Gatineau, Émilise Lessard-Therrien announced last Monday on social networks that she was leaving her position as female co-spokesperson for the party.
In her publication, she claims to have wanted to “breathe new life into the party”, but to have encountered “an organizational blockage”. “I quickly realized that the train was already well underway. I wanted to go there, try to influence the framework of reflection and decision-making led or nourished by a small team of professionals woven tightly around the male spokesperson. I sometimes got there, but I felt very alone there and I had difficulty finding my space there,” she wrote.
