Two motorists in their sixties who hit a heavy truck on Wednesday evening in Saint-Dominique, Montérégie, succumbed to their injuries.
The frontal collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Route 137, when the vehicle of the two victims found itself in the path of the truck which did not avoid the impact.
Seriously injured, the two occupants were transported in critical condition to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries later in the evening.
The investigation is still continuing to try to determine the exact causes and circumstances of this accident, said a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
After being closed, Route 137 was reopened to traffic shortly after midnight as an accident scene re-enactor moved to the scene of the collision.
