The Canada Border Services Agency says it helped put two Montreal companies on a US sanctions list that allegedly have links to the Russian military.
The US Commerce Department last month added cPUNTO and Electronic Network to its list of entities subject to export controls.
The two companies, which have their headquarters in the Montreal borough of Saint-Laurent, describe themselves online as distributors of electronic components.
US export controls now prohibit them from exporting almost any item that was made in the US, including intellectual property.
Canada’s border services say it is working closely with the U.S. government to restrict Russia’s access to products and technology needed for its war in Ukraine.
Neither cPUNTO nor Electronic Network responded to a request for comment.
