Two men stabbed during a fight in Montreal

(Montreal) Two men were stabbed in a fight that degenerated Wednesday night in Montreal, in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

It was the cries of one of the two victims, coming from an apartment on Sherbrooke Street, near Beauclerck Street, that prompted people to call emergency services at 911 around 6:20 p.m.

“When the police arrive on the scene, they locate two men in their thirties. They were both conscious and had stab wounds to the upper body,” said Constable Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Both men were taken to hospital. The severity of their injuries was not immediately specified.

“According to initial information, a possible conflict would have degenerated between the two men and they would have injured each other with knives,” said agent Chèvrefils.

A security perimeter has been erected to protect the scene for the investigators and the SPVM forensic identification technician, who will try to clarify the circumstances surrounding these armed attacks.

The SPVM investigation is continuing.
