Two men were indicted on Wednesday, November 24, and placed under judicial supervision for offenses relating to the legislation on weapons after the discovery of an arsenal and neo-Nazi objects in the Eure, announced the Evreux prosecutor’s office. .
The two implicated “recognize that they own weapons of war and are particularly passionate about weapons. Afterwards, their explanations are not very credible on the origin of the weapons. Hence the opening of information to verify where these weapons come from.”, explained to AFP the prosecutor of the Republic of Évreux Dominique Puechmaille.
Over a hundred weapons, ammunition and “objects with swastikas” had been discovered last weekend in the Eure, during a search carried out by the customs services, the prosecution explained Tuesday. The search took place in Mesnil-en-Ouche, in the Normandy countryside, after the arrest of two 25-year-old men who had refused a customs check.
The two men, one of whom is a corporal in the 35th Infantry Regiment of Belfort (Territoire-de-Belfort), had collided with the customs officers’ car before being caught up, according to a police source. But “it is especially the searches carried out then which were interesting: there was an arsenal, a lot of ammunition and objects with swastikas”, added the prosecutor.
