Two little girls caught during the eclipse in Montreal

Two girls aged 9 and 11 were hit by a car during the eclipse on Monday in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. We do not fear for their lives.


A car hit the two girls at low speed at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Morgan streets at 3:07 p.m., when the moon had begun to obscure part of the sun. According to Sabrina Gauthier, spokesperson for the SPVM, around 200 witnesses witnessed the scene.

The circumstances of the accident are still unknown. The driver of the vehicle was present when the police arrived.

The two girls’ injuries are minor. Urgence Santé transported them to a hospital center for prevention.
