(Mexico City) A photojournalist was murdered on Monday in Tijuana in northwestern Mexico, where sources also reported the death of a journalist in Veracruz (southeast) without it being possible to link this second crime to the victim’s occupation.

A contributor to several Mexican publications, photographer Margarito Martinez was shot and killed, local security services said. He had received threats, according to an NGO.
In Veracruz, digital media director José Luis Gamboa was stabbed on January 10. He had not received any threats, according to a local Journalists Protection Committee.
