Two young men were arrested and placed in police custody on Monday, May 27, in the investigation into the explosion of a grenade which left two people injured, including one seriously, on Thursday in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis), franceinfo learned from the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office on Tuesday. One is 17 years old, the other 18 years old. Their hearings are underway, said the same source.

Thursday evening, around 8:30 p.m., the explosion of a “Yugoslav type M52 defensive grenade” in the town hall district of Aubervilliers seriously injured a 40-year-old man who was passing by on a bicycle in the right arm and face, detailed the Bobigny prosecutor, Eric Mathais. His vital prognosis is still in jeopardy, the prosecution said on Tuesday.

The explosion also caused a broken finger to a 51-year-old woman and caused damage to vehicles and a restaurant, according to the prosecution.

LThe investigations, opened for “attempted murder” and “possession of a category A weapon”, had been entrusted to the departmental judicial police. They made it possible to determine that the perpetrators were riding bicycles when the grenade was thrown.
