The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) delivered two high speed offenses in the Laurentians in the past week, a statement said.
On July 28, shortly after midnight, police officers from the MRC des Pays-d’en-Haut stopped a car traveling at 191 km/h in a zone limited to 100 km/h, at km 55 of the highway 15 North in Prévost. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, received a statement of offense totaling $1,696 and 18 demerit points. His driver’s license was suspended for 7 days and his vehicle was towed.
Thursday morning, around 8:45 a.m., history repeated itself when police officers from the MRC des Laurentides intercepted a vehicle traveling at 147 km/h in a zone limited to 90 km/h. The driver, a 37-year-old man also from Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, was traveling on Route 117 North in Irvy when he was arrested. He received a statement of offense totaling $879 and 10 demerit points. His vehicle was also towed and his license was suspended for seven days.
