Arras attack: two staff members still traumatized testify
Monday March 11, five members of the high school staff who intervened against the Arras terrorist received the Legion of Honor. Two of them, Benjamin Laribi and Christian Berroyer, returned to the circumstances of that day which traumatized them.

Five months after the Arras attack which saw Dominique Bernard die, stabbed by a terrorist, some are still haunted by memories of the tragedy. Benjamin Laribi is a supervisor. On the day of the incident, he intervened between the attacker and an injured sports teacher on the ground. “I grabbed him around the forearms. That’s when I saw that he had a knife in each hand. From that moment on, I disconnected a little”, he confides. He then pushes him with all his strength and manages to dodge a stab. Miraculously, the supervisor escaped without physical injury. However, his life changed. “We are on the alert every time we go out”he admits.
Psychological follow-up
Christian Berroyer is a maintenance agent. October 13 tries to repel the terrorist with a simple chair. “I live with difficulty sleeping”, he testifies. If he lives with “a lot of anger”, he confides that he has a feeling of guilt. He would have liked to have done differently so that everyone could get by. The two men are now being followed by psychologists. Despite the trauma, they returned to work straight away. On Monday March 11, they received the Legion of Honor for their heroic gesture, like three other of their colleagues.
