Mme Touzin was rewarded for her report “A pandemic in the head1 “, published on June 12, 2021 and relating to “the impact of public health measures on the mental health of young people”.

“Caroline Touzin was the only journalist in Quebec – and quite possibly in Canada – to immerse herself in a child psychiatric unit in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis,” said En-Tête.

“I am really happy to receive this award, but above all I would like to thank the CHU Sainte-Justine for its openness to a journalist,” said Ms.me Touzin.

I would like to dedicate this award to all the teenagers who had to show great resilience during the pandemic because they were deprived of everything they loved to do.

Mme Morin-Martel received a special mention for her report “Can we keep her alive, please?2 », published in The Press on October 21, 2021.

“We can see with the award given to Caroline the importance of giving journalists access to the front lines during crises like the one we are experiencing,” said François Cardinal, deputy editor and vice-president of information at The Press.

“It has been an issue over the past two years in Quebec, with the obstacles imposed by the government. However, journalists who reveal behind the scenes of health crises and their impacts allow citizens to better understand the seriousness of the situation. Congratulations to Caroline and Florence. »

The awards were presented Saturday night in Montreal at the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) gala.

The other finalists for this award were Anne-Marie Provost, from the newspaper The dutyfor “Incursion into a classroom at the Institut Philippe-Pinel3 “, and Diamond Yao, of The Converse, for “From adoption to immigration, mental health challenges in the Asian community4 “.
