Two former employees of a crèche of the People&Baby group were sentenced, Monday October 7, in Lille, to ten months suspended prison sentence for violence against children. The former director of this nursery in Villeneuve-d’Ascq (North) was found guilty of violence against three children and was also sentenced to a ban on carrying out any activity in contact with minors for three years. The ex-nurse was found guilty of violence against eight children and was banned from carrying out any activity in contact with minors for five years. Both women were absent from the hearing Monday.

The court went beyond the requisitions for the first, against whom the prosecution had requested on September 23 six months of suspended prison, but it remained below for the nurse, the prosecution having requested twelve months of suspended prison .

The defendants were prosecuted for intentional, physical and psychological violence, without incapacity, against nine children in total. The civil parties described meal deprivation, humiliation, solitary confinement and some suspected physical abuse.

“It’s a message of hope, it’s a great day”greeted Zohra, whose twins aged 2 in 2021 were victims of mistreatment by the two ex-employees on trial.
