The Pyrénées-Orientales firefighters set up a crisis unit on the evening of Wednesday May 10. They have been mobilized since mid-afternoon for two fires.
Two fires broke out in the Pyrénées-Orientales on Wednesday May 10. Over a hundred people had to be evacuated. “These are the inhabitants of this subdivision where we are. They were extremely scared this afternoon, since the flames really grazed their house”, explains journalist Henry de Laguerie, live from Saint-Cyprien (Pyrénées-Orientales). The fire broke out in the middle of the afternoon, after a tractor caught fire.
The two fires under control in the evening
In the evening, “the situation has really improved”and the fire is “soon to be mastered”, continues the journalist. Only a mobile home burned down in a campsite. If the people who were staying in the establishment were also evacuated, “the situation is under control”in the evening, and the second fire, a few kilometers away, “is also under control”concludes the journalist.
