Tomato soup on one of the most famous boards in the world. Two environmental activists from the Just Stop Oil movement threw tomato soup on Van Gogh’s masterpiece The sunflowersexhibited at the National Gallery in London, Friday, October 14 in the morning.
The images were captured by the Guardian’s environmental journalist and the action was claimed on Twitter by the movement, which calls for the immediate cessation of any new oil or gas project. “Which is more valuable, art or life? Is art worth more than food, justice? Do you pay more attention to the protection of a work of art or to protect our planet and people?”, writes Just Stop Oil in his message.
