A new action for denounce inaction in the face of global warming. Two environmental activists stuck their hands, Saturday, November 5, on the frame of paintings by the painter Francisco Goya, at the Prado museum in Madrid, announced the Spanish police. Without damaging the paintings, they tagged “+1.5°C” on the wall between the two paintings, in reference to the global warming objective set in the Paris agreement.

The two activists were arrested and taken into custody, according to the police. In a video relayed by the environmental collective Futuro Vegetal, we see the two activists with their hands each fixed on a painting, in one of the rooms of the museum, before being taken care of by museum security officials. The two paintings referred to are The Naked Maja and The Clothed Maja.

This action is “a sign of protest” in front of “the rise in global temperature, which will cause an unstable climate with serious consequences for the entire planet”reacted the collective Extinction Rebellion. This action follows several others of this type carried out by climate activists, who have targeted works of art in several cities in Europe.
