two demonstrations on Saturday in connection with the Horizon project for welcoming refugees

A demonstration is organized on Saturday September 17 at 11 a.m. in Callac in the Côtes d’Armor, at the initiative in particular of the far-right party Reconquête to oppose the horizon project. A project led by the municipality and the private endowment fund Merci which aims to welcome refugees in the town of 2200 inhabitants and to renovate several vacant sites. Residents of the sector, associations and unions are calling for a counter-demonstration.

For several days, the municipality of Callac has been in contact with the prefecture of the department with the aim that the Reconquest activists who meet in front of the town hall and those of the supporters of this project, who have met 200 meters further , place du 9 avril 1944 do not intersect. Two separate arrival routes have been set up and access to the city center will be filtered. A reinforced security system will be deployed.

If the counter-demonstration is not prohibited outside the perimeter, the State services recall that the demonstrators are exposed to fines since they have not declared their gathering. In addition, the town hall has decided to cancel all sports activities and to close the town hall and the library.
