According to the Radio France office in Marseille, one of the two victims of the shooting this Thursday evening was a suspect in a case of attempted assassination in 2019. Another man was injured.

Two men aged 24 and 41 were shot dead this Thursday in a shooting in the northern districts of Marseille. The 41-year-old victim was already known to investigators, the Radio France Marseille office learned from a source close to the investigation. This man was a suspect in an attempted murder case in 2019.

Another 41-year-old man was also injured in the shooting. The facts occurred on the public highway around 7:40 p.m. in the Chutes-Lavie district, in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille.
A burned vehicle was found a little later in Corot Park, in the 13th arrondissement. Investigators suspect this car of having been used by the perpetrator or perpetrators of the shooting. A long weapon was found in this vehicle, again according to a source close to the investigation.
These two new murders (the link to drug trafficking has not yet been established) come more than two weeks after the last homicide officially linked by investigators to the drug traffickers’ war in the Marseille city. The person targeted was then a 56-year-old man, killed in the Estaque district, in the 16th arrondissement, in the north of the city.
