two dead in a shooting, one of the two victims was already known to investigators

Two men aged 24 and 41 were shot and killed on Thursday September 28 in a shooting in the northern districts of Marseille. The 41-year-old victim was already known to investigators, the Radio France Marseille office learned from a source close to the investigation. This man was a suspect in an attempted murder case in 2019.

Another 41-year-old man was also injured in the shooting. The facts occurred on the public highway around 7:40 p.m. in the Chutes-Lavie district, in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille.

On video surveillance images from a city camera, which the journalist from the Radio France office in Marseille was able to consult, we see three men chatting on a sidewalk near a tobacco bar.
A black 4×4 stops alongside them; we cannot see the driver’s face. A passenger comes out of the rear door, he wears a mask, a black jacket and a hood. He fired a long gun in bursts as he advanced towards the sidewalk then got back into the 4×4 which fled.

A burned vehicle was found a little later in Corot Park, in the 13th arrondissement. Investigators suspect this car of having been used by the perpetrator or perpetrators of the shooting. A long weapon was found in this vehicle, again according to a source close to the investigation.

These two new murders (the link to drug trafficking has not yet been established) come more than two weeks after the last homicide officially linked by investigators to the drug traffickers’ war in the Marseille city. The person targeted was then a 56-year-old man, killed in the Estaque district, in the 16th arrondissement, in the north of the city.
