Two dead and three injured in head-on collision at Farnham

Two women lost their lives in a head-on collision in Farnham, Estrie.

The accident occurred Saturday evening, around 11:45 p.m., on Route 104.

“For a reason that is still unknown, a driver who was traveling eastbound deviated from her lane to collide with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction,” said Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. (SQ).

“The driver died. We’re talking about a 33-year-old woman from Farnham. There were also two young children who were in the vehicle. They had to be taken to hospital to treat serious injuries, but there is no fear for their lives, ”said the SQ spokesperson.

The passenger in the other vehicle, a 66-year-old woman from Boisbriand, in the Laurentians, also died. The driver of this vehicle was also transported to the hospital to treat serious injuries, but her life is out of danger.

“There was a complete closure of Route 104 overnight to allow reconstructionists to investigate the causes and circumstances surrounding this collision. No hypothesis has been ruled out for the moment,” said Sergeant Tremblay.
