A collision killed two people early this morning on the A47 in the Loire. The accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. on the motorway in the direction of Givors-Saint Étienne near the town of Lorette.
Two cars collided. In one of them, a 66-year-old woman died. In the other car, a man in his twenties also died. A second occupant, also around 20 years old, was seriously injured. The Loire firefighters were forced to extricate him. He was transported to the northern hospital in Saint-Étienne.
According to the firefighters, it is a misdirection on the highway which could be at the origin of the drama. 24 firefighters from the Loire were mobilized on this accident.
The motorway was closed in the Givors-Saint Etienne direction during the rescue operations. It has been open again since about 7 a.m. this Saturday morning.
