Only two days left before the joint committee on the immigration bill, which is due to bring together seven deputies and seven senators on Monday, December 18, responsible for finding a compromise. Two days for the government, the elected representatives of the majority and the Republicans to find common ground, otherwise the text will be abandoned. And the political sequence, warned Gérald Darmanin, risks benefiting Marine Le Pen’s troops who are rubbing their hands.

“We are not unhappy with the way things have turned out”admits an RN executive who welcomes the vote on the rejection motion. “It brings us more than debates, in particular because it weakens Darmanin, he is burned for Matignon”, welcomes this strategist. If Marine Le Pen’s deputies decided to immediately oppose the text, it is above all for the regularization measures for certain undocumented immigrants. “It was a dangerous and immigrationist text”assures a deputy. “We made the right choice”, she said based on emails and comments received on social networks. The message seems to be going well with activists.

An email was sent to all RN members the day after the vote to educate: “Your elected officials have allowed a ‘great victory’ against a text which prepared the greatest migratory upsurge since family reunification”wrote the party, accusing the Minister of the Interior of having “lied to the French”. RN elected officials try to hide their frustration at not having been able to debate their favorite subject for two weeks. Marine Le Pen consoled them: “We don’t need that, the French know our positions.”

All the scenarios favorable to the RN?

The RN only has to observe from afar the negotiations between the government and the Republicans. “It proves that it’s political nonsense”assures a deputy who appreciates the show.

“We’re waiting to see who goes to bed: the government or the Republicans?”

To hear Marine Le Pen’s entourage, “all scenarios” will be favorable to the RN. “If there is a text, it will lean to the right, that means that the majority will be weakened, and perhaps shattered!” And if there is no voted text, “It will show the impotence of the government. We will put forward the proposal for a simplified text, tabled by Marine de Le Pen” which allows in particular to expel foreign delinquents, even if they arrived in France before the age of 13. “That way Gérald Darmanin will not be able to say that it is the fault of the RN if he cannot expel dangerous people”thinks Marine Le Pen’s entourage.
