In Martiel, Aveyron, two young people aged 18 and 19 were found dead on the side of a road. They were apparently knocked down by a motorist. A man was taken into custody.
In Martiel (Aveyron), on the edge of a departmental road between Rodez and Cahors, the bodies of two cyclists, aged 18 and 19, were found on the night of 3 to 4 July. They were probably victims of a road accident, followed by a hit-and-run. The two young people had left from Lake Bannac, three kilometres away, where they had spent the evening with friends.
Without news, the sister and brother of one of them had gone looking for them. They discovered their bodies at 3:40 a.m. One of the bikes was, it seems, a pile of scrap metal. “Behind all this, there are two lives that are gone, two young people who are dying, and families who are being plunged into disarray and pain.”confided the mayor (SE) of the commune, Guy Marty. When the fifteen firefighters arrived on the scene, it was too late. Two hours later, the driver of a van, aged around forty, was taken into custody for involuntary manslaughter and hit and run. He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
