Two children found dead in a burnt-out car, their father seriously burned near Béthune

Two boys aged 5 and 7 were found dead in a burnt out car, shortly before 9 a.m. this Monday morning in Vaudricourt, a small town near Béthune in Pas-de-Calais. The firefighters also rescued their father, who was found seriously injured near their car.

According to firefighters, the scene bears traces of an arson attack. It is the father of the children who is suspected of having set the fire to the vehicle. He was transported to the burns department of the Lille CHR. An investigation has been opened by the Béthune public prosecutor’s office, which must publish a press release.

A psychological cell has been opened, internally, for the Béthune firefighters mobilized for the intervention. Psychological support is also provided for the mother of the children, who lives in the commune of Saint-Floris.
