Two Canadian soldiers missing after Chinook helicopter crash

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) is looking for two members of its crew after a helicopter crash near Petawawa, Ontario.

In a statement, the army said that two members of 450e Tactical Helicopter Squadron were missing after a CH-147F Chinook crashed into the Ottawa River. The aircraft was on a training flight early Tuesday morning.

The two wanted members were part of the four-person crew involved in the crash, the military said. The other two members were found and taken to Pembroke Hospital.

The statement said that since Tuesday morning, about 50 members of the military have been conducting the search, along with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Petawawa and Pembroke fire departments.

Search and rescue aircraft from 424e RCAF Transport and Rescue Squadron are also contributing.

Petawawa is approximately 160 kilometers northwest of Ottawa.
