Return of a Ligue 1 classic. The matches between Monaco and Saint-Etienne have marked the history of French football, but the two teams had not faced each other for two years. Stuck in the second division, Saint-Étienne makes its big return to Ligue 1, Saturday August 17 at 9 p.m., at the Stade Louis-II against AS Monaco. The Red and Whites, runners-up to PSG last season, finished their preparation in a very satisfactory manner, with a highlight of a 3-0 victory against FC Barcelona in a friendly match and promising recruits such as Lamine Camara and Christian Mawissa.
If the Monegasques are the favorites of the match, the Stéphanois will be able to count on the support of their public, even away. Last year, the ASSE grounds were regularly full. At the Stade Louis-II, the Stéphanois should once again be noisy to mark their return to Ligue 1.
