Ottawa police confirm that six bodies were found late Wednesday evening in a residence on the city’s south side, and that one person has been arrested in connection with the case.
Late Thursday night, the Ottawa Police Service assured that the safety of the population was not threatened.
The six people, four children and two adults, were found at a residence on Berrigan Drive shortly before 11 p.m. in the residential area of Barrhaven. Authorities were alerted by at least one call transmitted to the 911 emergency telephone center.
As of daybreak Thursday, it was unclear whether there were any connections between the victims and the arrested suspect.
Investigators from the Ottawa Police Homicide Unit are trying to establish the circumstances of what happened.
An update was to be made later in the day by the Ottawa Police Service.
