Twitter suspends journalists who wrote about Elon Musk

The Twitter accounts of journalists who wrote about its CEO, Elon Musk, for the New York Timesthe washington postCNN, and other outlets were suspended on Thursday.

The social network did not explain why it deleted the accounts and made their past tweets disappear.

These suspensions follow that, earlier this week, of the account which automatically reported the movements of the private jet of the businessman using public data. Mr. Musk had however previously promised not to suspend this account.

Twitter also changed its rules on Wednesday to prohibit sharing another person’s current location without their consent.

Several of the journalists suspended Thursday night had written about the new policy and Mr. Musk’s justification for imposing it, which involved his allegations about a harassment incident that affected his family Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

“The same doxxing rules apply to ‘journalists’ as everyone else,” Musk tweeted on Thursday.

“Doxxing” refers to the online disclosure of someone’s identity, address, or other personal information.
