This Thursday, December 30, the candidates for the Best Pastry Chef competed for the very last time. They were only three in contention to try to win the grand finale of the tenth season of the show on M6. A finale on the theme of the end of the year celebrations, which Cyril Lignac appreciates so much.
So, for the grand finale, the chef of Tous en cuisine concocted a tailor-made event: “You are going to have to make the timeless, the unique, the kitschy, the cult Christmas sweater into a cake “. Fun? Yes, but above all difficult. How to give the illusion of a Christmas sweater on a cake? The answer is simple for Cyril Lignac: “I ask you to make a perfect trompe-l’oeil: I want to find the mesh of the sweater as well as a funny pattern reminiscent of Christmas. Flake, snowman, deer, bear, Mercotte’s head… “, the candidates have a choice. But one point is essential, this famous mesh: “I want to find texture like knitting. The important thing is to have the look of a sweater.”
And to enforce an instruction, what better way than to set an example? Like every event, Cyril Lignac therefore lent himself to the game of baking a cake on the theme given to the finalists. As a result, the chef showed off a red sweater with a chocolate deer head. A shortbread, a soft pecan cookie, a caramel with fleur de sel, a light vanilla cream… everything is there. Except maybe, that famous knitted sweater effect that he wanted so badly. And this failure, the televiewers noticed it well.
On Twitter, Internet users did not fail to remind Cyril Lignac that the three finalists struggled to make the sweater aspect, while he only achieved a “simple” red flocking: “Where is the mesh of Cyril’s sweater? Because easy to flock with a bomb “, “So, Cyril asks for a mesh to make us a flocked cake !?” … WHOOPS !
