“Power sharing limits the worst excesses.” Elon Musk on Monday (November 7) called on Americans to vote for the Republican Party in the midterm elections on Tuesday, in the name of the balance between executive and legislative powers. The Americans are voting to renew all the seats in the House of Representatives, more than a third of the Senate and some thirty governorships.
To independent-minded voters:
Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 7, 2022
Elon Musk clarified that he was addressing the “independent-minded voters”, the only ones able, according to him, to tilt the majorities in Congress. This voting recommendation from the billionaire will not fail to fuel concerns among Americans who fear a possible political use of the social network on his part. Shortly after the takeover was announced in early November, the boss of Tesla and SpaceX promised that Twitter would remain politically neutral and that all opinions could be expressed there.
