About twenty dolphins stranded Wednesday, November 10 afternoon on the beach of Guérinière in Noirmoutier (Vendée), reports France Bleu Loire Océan. Two of the animals died, the seventeen others were able to find water thanks to the intervention of the firefighters.
The nineteen dolphins stranded at low tide, for some reason. If two animals died, the others were quickly taken care of by a team of eight firefighters specializing in coastal rescue and agents from the town’s technical services. The animals were placed in a comfortable position, on their stomachs, then covered with wet tissues and algae, so that their skin remained moist while the tide rose.
According to France Bleu Loire Océan, this is the second time in three months that such a phenomenon has occurred on the island of Noirmoutier. To try to understand the reasons, the remains of the two dead dolphins will be analyzed.
