The lull is confirmed after a week of riots triggered by the death of Nahel, killed by a police officer during a road check in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine). According to a report from the Ministry of the Interior, twenty arrests were recorded on the night of Wednesday July 5 to Thursday July 6, seven days after the start of the violence.

A building was “burned or damaged” and a member of the security forces was injured, the ministry said in this report. A total of 81 fires or attempted fires were recorded on public roads, the majority of which were garbage can fires. Fifty-five vehicles were set on fire.
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, 16 people were arrested. Eight buildings as well as 78 burnt vehicles had been identified. According to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, more than 3,600 arrests have taken place since the riots began, hours after Nahel’s death on June 27.
